The only serious choice for track day or drift car suspension is to go with coil over shocks. They are not inexpensive, but there are some distinct advantages, that come with using them. Good reasons, include getting the shock as close to the center line of the tire as possible, for a reduced overall motion ratio. This allows running a softer spring and staying in better contact with the track surface, which is why you see coil overs on so many race cars. Ride height adjustment is another feature, since these shocks are fairly easy to raise up or down (see the blue collar, in the photo below). Next up will be five bolt hubs, which is a fairly involved job. Bring your big hammer, and a lot of determination.
